After Your B.Ed.: Placements & What Your Salary Could Be Like in India!
Okay, now let's talk about the good things – after getting your B.Ed. from Madhav Eduversity, where you can work, and how much you can earn!
Your B.Ed. is your key to a highly sought-after career. Teachers are always needed everywhere in India, whether in metropolitan cities or town areas.
Graduates from the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program can find many career options prepared to become a teacher in various capacities. Some of these careers include teaching children in the primary grades (1 to 5) or being a teacher for middle school (6 to 10) and junior/senior secondary (11 and 12). Teaching at the lower levels focuses on multi-subject areas, while at the higher levels, teachers will specialise in 1 to 2 subject areas and prepare students for public exams, either state or Board level, and have the option of working in public or private schools.
Private Schools actively recruit B.Ed graduates for employment opportunities. Public schools are a popular choice for many job seekers as they offer a stable job environment and benefits; however, such applicants must pass the "Teacher Eligibility Test" (CTET) or the applicable state's "Teacher Eligibility Test" (TET).
B.Ed. graduates might pursue a career with companies that develop instructional material, such as books or other instructional products. Graduates may also work independently teaching private lessons (or tutors) in addition to their B.Ed certification in private lesson settings.
School administrators are allowed to move into roles such as principal or coordinator from being a teacher in a public school after accumulating the necessary experience.
What about the Salary? (Package Explained!)
As an educator in India, there are several factors that will impact your teacher salary:
Government vs Private School: Generally speaking, if you work in the government sector as opposed to the private sector, your pay will usually be much higher. A good marker for this is that the Indian Government sets salaries for most teachers/educators based off of a pay scale such as the 7th Pay Commission, while most private schools are allowed to determine the pay of their educators based on whatever guidelines they deem appropriate.
Experience Level as a Teacher: The longer you are at your job and teaching professionally, typically your salary will increase as an educator with your tenure.
Location of School: Also, and again generally speaking, teachers that work in large metropolitan cities (i.e.-Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore) typically earn salaries that are greater than teachers that work in smaller towns.
Your area of specialty (i.e.-Science vs. Math): In addition to the present credentials and experience that you have, at times, there will be greater demand for teachers of one subject compared to another.
Below are some approximate yearly wages of doing jobs as newly appointed teachers (less than two years of working experience) of India once they receive their Bachelor of Education degree.
- Private schools typically start paying from ₹200,000 up to ₹450,000 depending on what kind of private school is hiring new teachers. Teachers that work for the international schools hired will also generally earn more than regular private school teachers based on the teacher’s unique qualifications compared to the regular private school teacher.
- Government school salaries will be determined by the centralized salary scales based on several factors, including whether the teacher has passed the appropriate qualifying examinations as well as lengths of service and level of education. A primary teacher’s (PRT) estimated base starting salary will approximately be ₹350,000 per year. 6790US$ 6,750), the TGT teacher’s annual base salary will be estimated at around ₹450,000 per year. Additionally, all teachers could potentially receive other allowances as specified by both the state and/or central governments.
- Private tutors and coaching centers generally pay tutors on a per-job-by-job basis; every tutor will have different pay rates based on how many clients they have, how many clients are available for tutorings today, etc. However, the average tutor would make between ₹250,000 up to ₹600,000 annually.
